AE BAR MITZVAH | A LOGO IS JUST THE BEGINNING!

AWESOME. Emily Baird’s logo and invitation suite design for our April mitzvah client was all that and more. Emily nailed the look immediately and set the tone perfectly for the overall aesthetic we envisioned for this event – modern and clean lined, with an overlay of warmth and exuberance.

Blue and white baker’s twine finished the look, keeping the invitation inserts together inside the envelope, and adding an extra special touch. We used the same twine later for the teen favor tags.

A mostly monochromatic light and charcoal gray color scheme was energized by pops of lapis blue. So well suited for the contemporary feel of the Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner, but with some added texture for fun – sapphire blue fire glass, concrete planters, and organic green and purple succulents.

Oversized portraits of our mitzvah VIP flanked both ends of the pre-function space, giving the modern setting a touch of warmth (portrait photography courtesy of Brandon Ginsburg). And in the main reception area, lush centerpieces on the adult communal tables got a contemporary twist inside concrete planters.

Similarly, floating candles surrounding high centerpieces of white calla lilies atop minimalist linear stands were an intended mix of warmth and contemporary cool.

On the teen communal tables, we kept the look streamlined, bringing in Jack’s logo on contemporary LED cubes. For the teen rounds, succulents in small concrete pots added a warm, organic element to the LED lights.

Really had fun with the teen lounge – a creative nod to J!

Washington Nationals racing Presidents Abe and Teddy made a surprise appearance during the cocktail hour – a special treat for our baseball loving man of the hour. First mixing with the adults, the Nats mascots then moved to the dance floor to join the teen action. Loved by one and all!

Rhythm 6 and DJ Noel were the perfect combo for this high energy crowd. Knocked it right out of the park!

And the food…AMAZING. Courtesy of the Hyatt’s incredibly talented and creative culinary team. A totally custom menu, developed collaboratively between the culinary team, the assistant director for events, AE, and our client. Informal and FUN, exactly as envisioned…with creative twists at every turn.

Super fun setups included a grill station with meat, chicken, and veggie skewers; a street food station with mini grilled mahi mahi tacos, hot fried chicken sliders on housemade waffles, and street corn salad;  a rigatoni, gnocchi and orecchiette station; and a custom ball park station with quesadillas, beef sliders and franks, steak fries, and concession style hot pretzels (in the shape of a J – thank you, James!)

Dessert began with a surprise – to-die-for salted caramel truffle pops and elegant but scrumptious cheesecake cones, passed during a lull in the dance floor action. All served in style – wooden boards for the pops, and clear lucite painters’ palettes for the cones.

On the dessert stations – mini coconut and passion fruit panna cotta jars; s’mores bites; mini churro and chocolate cups; fresh berry mini parfaits; flourless chocolate cake; and housemade fudge. We don’t think anyone left hungry!

We repeated one of Jack’s logos on takeaway tees for the teens, packaging the tees in fun carrying tins placed in and adjacent to the teen cubbies.

A beautiful  mix – sophisticated and clean lined, with notes of boyish charm, just like our young VIP!

This was our third mitzvah celebration for this incredible family. It was truly an honor to work with them each and every time.

And just heart-warming to see Jack’s big brother up in the chair again, this time with HIS buddies big enough to join the lifting! From generation to generation, as they say. Special memories everywhere you look.

Yes, we were sad to see it all come to an end, but lucky enough to get an extra bonus – Debbi, Jack’s mom, is now an important part of the AE team. She’s handling both marketing and events, sharing a mix of talents with us and our clients. And we’re all benefiting – she’s simply a NATURAL!!
