Mint green and coral were hugely popular this past spring and summer in fashion and interior design, totally of the moment for weddings and social events. We were delighted to have the opportunity to design an event around this color palette, with touches of equally trendy gold, as well as a nod to Parisian summer elegance. Not to mention having the additional good fortune of being able to create a completely custom menu. Lots of surprise elements throughout the evening, creating new excitement at every turn.
custom invitation & postage
The mint green, gold, and white custom invitation from Golden Silhouette Studio set the stage beautifully. Mint green and white stripes were accented by hand embossed gold foil dots in honor of our young lady’s love of all things glittery. Gold dot Zazzle postage was a PERFECT finishing touch!
the artistry is in the details
Every element of this mitzvah was carefully detailed. Even the family’s kippot. Exquisitely crafted by Design Kippah, the custom silk and embroidered kippot were a stunning nod to old world elegance.
elegant tablescapes with youthful energy
In keeping with our color scheme, we chose turquoise linen with a raw silk texture and lustrous shine for all of the dining tables, accented by coral napkins and chair cushions. Clear acrylic reception chairs punched up the traditional setting, while matte gold accents added a complementary touch. Adults were seated at rounds while the young adults were seated at long banquet tables.
Luscious coral peonies were an ode to early summer and added a just right touch of youthful energy to the sophisticated florals. On the adult tables, Edge Floral‘s stunning arrangements and floating candles evoked a vintage modern Parisian feel.
Matte gold boxes of peonies and white hydrangea lined the center of the long banquet tables, along with gold mercury glass LED votives.
Beautiful print collateral and signage produced to our design specifications by Lettering by Lynne accented the tables.
fun all the way up to the ceiling
Over the dance floor, a “ceilingscape” of handcrafted tassel garlands, honeycomb balls, and confetti balloons created by Etsy artisans and the team at Edge Floral hit exactly the right note for this mitzvah. Nothing short of an “exactly what we wanted!” from our client upon first sight. (Isn’t that the best?!)
and down to the floor
A sophisticated, Parisian style lounge for all to enjoy.
entertainment for all ages
For the little ones, we created beautiful activity boxes, set on their chairs and so appreciated by their parents. Filled with age appropriate miniature wood toys, games, and puzzles, the French style mini suitcases were perfect takeaways. We’ll never forget the sweet smiles on their faces as they carried away their own special souvenirs.
awesome food & beverage
Custom bar and beverage, along with a creatively designed menu, wowed adults and young adults alike.
We decided on a longer than usual cocktail hour to allow guests to fully enjoy the treats and the conversation. For the adults, a champagne cocktail with a hint of elderflower was the perfect match for an early summer evening. Luxury pours and select wines, along with local Virginia craft beers, were offered at the bar. And a separate whiskey bar with custom bourbon and scotch flights was perfect for the Middleburg horse country crowd.
For the young adults, we wanted nothing less than equal treatment. So we had the venue team create a non-alcoholic signature cocktail – sparkling clear juice served in champagne flutes, garnished with either color-coordinated sugar swizzle sticks or gummy bears. Elegant but fun. Trust us, the kids loved it! Prepared-to-order virgin pina coladas and strawberry daiquiries rounded out the cocktail hour selection.
Adult hors d’oeuvres included chilled cucumber and mint soup shooters, tuna tartare in Asian spoons, seared duck breast, mushroom risotto arancini, and a selection of sushi.
Lots of fun appetizers for the young adults, as well, including individual gourmet popcorn cups.
For the adult entrees, we combined station and small plate concepts. A filet mignon station was complemented by a mashed potato martini bar, as well as grilled vegetables, caesar salad, and individually presented citrus/green salads. Miso glazed striped bass served tapas style over warm glass noodles rounded out the selection. All expertly prepared and displayed to perfection.
The young adults enjoyed a range of options, as well. Tough to choose, hard to resist. A mac and cheese station. Asian noodles prepared to order and served in Chinese takeout boxes with chopsticks. And a slider station, including beef sliders on mini buns and individual french fry cones.
Then more treats! After the initial excitement of the adult whiskey bar and young adult signature drink, we upped the ante with a Carmen’s cart (fab milk shakes and cotton candy) and chocolate fountain (jaw droppingly gooey).
For the candlelighting table, we commissioned a beautiful celebration cake from Buttercream Bakeshop. Designed to coordinate with the rest of the decor, this lovely confection was topped with the same coral peonies as used in the centerpieces. A feast for the eyes, no less the sweet tooth.
In a nod to our client’s summer trips to Paris, we also designed a Laduree inspired sweets table, adorned by a handcrafted patisserie sign from Nine Arrow Designs.
The sweets selection included fresh summer berry martinis and mini individual grasshopper pies from the talented chefs at Lansdowne, as well as chocolate hazelnut crunch bars, edible pearl garnished mini cupcakes, and gold embellished macarons and Oreo gems from Buttercream Bakeshop.
For a final bit of wow, departing guests were treated to an elegantly decorated candy cart in the foyer. It was certainly no secret that those custom labeled bags were filled to the brim! Sweet mementos, beautiful memories.
We had so much fun designing this elegant, but sweet bat mitzvah reception. Of course, we couldn’t have pulled it all together in the SIX WEEKS we had from contract to event without an incredibly gracious client and absolutely fabulous vendor partners. Thank you one and all!
